I have lost my original educational and share certificates. How can I get the duplicates of them?
You can get duplicate copies only if the originals are actually lost, stolen or damaged. The candidate has to follow a procedure in order to get duplicate certificates. First of all get a FIR done (First Information Report) for loss or theft of the certificates at the nearest police station. The details on the FIR should be correct and complete. Sometimes the police department does not lodge a complaint as they have lots of pending files. Then we realize for a Lost and Found Advertisement.
In that case write an application. Insert all the information as how they were lost and mention roll number and year passed out. The candidate should give all in written. This application should be duly signed and stamped by the Sub Inspector or Inspector. Next procedure is to get this advertised in the national daily newspaper.
The best newspaper to opt for is Times of India. The publication needs the copy of FIR as a document against booking lost and found advertisement in newspaper. The publication will print the details mentioned on the FIR. They will not publish anything which is not mentioned in the FIR. This will be published under the heading of Lost and Found.
The day the advertisement of lost and found is published in Times of India, you need to purchase two to three copies of the newspaper. The full page has to be submitted along with the copy of FIR at the centres to get duplicates of the certificates. Very important point is that you have to submit the full page where the ad is released. Please do not submit the cutting. This is not allowed. Otherwise you will have to release lost and found ad again.
